FAQs

Getting Started

How do I get started?

It’s easy. Just sign up to RideaHorse.com.au then select a program and riding centre that suit. You can then contact the riding centre directly to enrol in your program. Riding centres set their own program fees.

What do I need to get involved?

You’ll need a passion for horses, and some basic clothing items (see below).

Is there anything in particular I need to wear?
Your Riding Centre should have helmets meeting Australian safety standards that you can borrow, but you’ll also need a couple of other basic items of clothing. These include: long pants (jodhpurs are ideal but jeans or leggings are also fine), a shirt with sleeves covering your shoulders and enclosed shoes (preferably boots with a small heel).
If I need to purchase anything, where can I buy the correct gear?
If you’d like to buy specialist horse riding clothing like jodhpurs or riding boots, you can do so here.
How easy is it to learn? Is it safe for novices?

Our mix of programs is designed to cater to all skill levels. Use our ‘Find Your Program’ page to find the program that is right for you. All courses focus on safety as paramount.

Is there a minimum age to participate?

Our beginner level programs ‘Ready Set Trot’ and ‘Ready Set Vault’ are designed for ages 5-12 but each Riding Centre is able to decide the minimum age of students they will accept. Contact your nearest Riding Centre to check their minimum age.

Costs

How much does it cost?

Pricing for the program resources is between $27 and $65 per level depending on which program you choose.
Lesson prices are determined by the Riding Centre that you choose to attend.

Riding Centres

What if there are no accredited Riding Centres near me?

You can still purchase program resources to receive your free helmet, however program delivery requires that you attend a Riding Centre. We’re working to ensure we have as many of these available as possible, if there is no centre near you please contact us at enquiries@rideahorse.com.au so we can endeavor to find one for you.
